I can’t believe it, but we are finally almost to Greece for our mission trip! This semester has been an adventure preparing and now the reality has finally set in that we are going to be there. Yesterday we had a very encouraging send-off and went on our way. So far we have very little trouble getting there. However, Breanna felt a little sick from the flight to Germany and Matt wasn’t feeling the best as well. Thankfuly they are both feeling a lot better with sleep and food.
Right now we are waiting in the airport in Frankfurt, Germany with only less than two hours before we board for take off to Greece. I have a very strong feeling that this next flight is going to take us to a place where God is going to change our lives forever. We are taking a step into the unknown which is scary but exciting at the same time.
Last night while on the flight to Germany I had a window seat. I couldn’t sleep after trying for a couple hours, so I began to think about being in Greece. I was thinking about how God is going to use me in the lives of the Muslim people. I started questioning what the real purpose was for this trip. It turned into doubt that I was even meant to go. I asked God questions like “Why am I going if I am just going to leave in a few weeks?” and “What difference am I going to make?”
I looked out the window and noticed the sunrise over the ocean. It was absolutely beautiful. Then I felt God telling me “I don’t want you to try to change the lives of the Muslims, I just want you to shine your light for them to see. It’s not your job to change them, that is MY job. Just show them the joy you have found from having a relationship with me.” It reminds me of Ephesians 5:8 “For you were once in darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.” We are going to be a light to a people living in darkness, even it is only for a few weeks. We are to show them the beauty from the light that comes from God!
